Govt mum on Oracle bribes

The US tech giant Oracle has agreed to pay a $23 million fine for creating a slush fund from which it paid out bribes to win contracts in India, UAE and Turkey. Fillip to CSR: Govt relaxes impact assessment fee cap for CSR projects, allows cos to spend over ₹50 lakh

The Corporate Affairs Ministry (MCA) is taking several measures to give a further boost to CSR spending by corporates. The government has relaxed the impact assessment fee cap for CSR projects. This rule change would enable corporates to pay more than ₹50 lakh for impact assessment. Our Co-Founding Partner Sawant Singh said the latest move by the MCA, is likely to give a fillip to CSR activities and make it easier for companies to comply with their CSR obligations. He further shared, ‘Also expenditure booked for impact assessment need not be restricted to ₹50 lakh as a higher 2 percent threshold has been prescribed. These are all steps in the right direction.’
