Manjula Chawla specializes in the areas of foreign direct investments (FDI),mergers and acquisitions, demergers, joint ventures, corporate finance and restructuring, corporate governance and general corporate and commercial matters.
Since the early years of economic liberalisation, Manjula has successfully assisted many MNCs (include Fortune 500 companies) in establishing their presence in India; structuring, negotiating and drafting a wide range of business transactions for foreign investors and multinational corporations in a variety of fields including but not limited to automobiles, biotechnology, chemicals, energy, financial services, healthcare and pharma, information technology & outsourcing, oil & gas, telecommunications.
Apart from advising clients on a wide range of issues involving FDI policy and key corporate issues, Manjula is now squarely focussed on critical issues like bribery & corruption laws, competition law, data privacy and protection and assists several clients with internal investigations on fraud and non-compliance.
Manjula represents numerous international clients in high profile litigation and arbitration matters arising out of commercial contracts and on apro bono basis represents a number of foreign and international non-profit organizations operating in India.
Manjula holds senior positions on various legal, business and social committees.
She is currently a member of the Corporate Affairs Committee of the PHD Chamber
of Commerce, Member – North India Council at the Indo- American Chamber of
Commerce and Treasurer of SILF ( the Society of Indian Law Firms a collective of
India’s Top Corporate Law Firms and their only representative body in India).

number complex deals including advising on the India leg of the transfer of its
global automotive interiors business to Reydel Automotive Holdings BV,
owned by the New York private investment firm Cerberus Capital
« Ford Motor Credit Company, USA in re-entering India and establishing a
non-banking financial services company for financing Ford vehicles in India.
« Kokuyo Co., Ltd., Japan’s largest stationery maker on its acquisition of
Riddhi Enterprises, a Mumbai-based paper and notebooks manufacturer.
« Trafigura Beheer BV, one of world’s largest crude oil trader, on a strategic
equity investment in Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Limited’s oil refinery in Cuddalore, TN. The deal was nominated as theM&A Deal of the Year for
IFLR Asia Awards 2013 and reported as one of the notable deals in Southeast
Asia in May 2012 by Australian Legal Business.
« Monster Energy Corporation, USA in setting up a subsidiary in India for
manufacturing, importing and selling its energy drinks in India.
